a open letter to the cfp comittee
With the 12 team playoff well underway (as of writing this the quarter finals are set)
but a question i have to the cfp starting off with this why smu over alabama ?
- smu sos 17th
- alabama sos 10th
Alabama has a higher sos then smu and out of those 3 loss teams
so you are telling us that smu is one of the 12 best teams in the nation? they deserved to be put in over a battle tested alabama?
Smu should not be penalized for the season they have had
once again this notion sounds like the comittee took pity on a g5 team that got in to a rhythm but by the cfp metrics they should have been in consideration andmaybe the inaugural 12 team playoff would not be as they are right now but i want to harken back to the words of nick saban about strength of schedule
"I think one of the things I've mentioned throughout this football season is, if we don't take strength of schedule into consideration, is there any benefit to scheduling really good teams in the future" - nick saban
to his point that sets the precedent of no matter who you play you are going to get in and i am not telling you this to berate you im telling you this because i have a love of the sport and i want you to be better for 2025
