Week 1 Alabama vs western kentucky

 A new era has arrived in Tuscaloosa AL has Kalen DeBoer gets set to lead the tide in to the first game of the year so lets get in to it

new faces and new offense

The last time we saw coach DeBoer he helped lead the Washington huskies (14-1) to the national title game against Michigan now with better resources and talent galore he is poised to keep Alabama at the head of the college football universe but what kind of offense will the tide showcase this year?.

Well the tide comes in to this year showing more of a mix between spread and air raid concepts using  3-4 wide receivers to help push the ball down field and with players like qb Jalen mileroe and a host of  wide receivers like Caleb Odem who is extremely talented with his feet and we cant forget Jmarcus Smith who is very speedy

Alabama and the college football playoff

Alabama has a schedule that most SEC teams would envy (see below) and their path to the playoff seems one that they can travel with ease and grace given the new offense and coaching staff , now the question is who will Alabama face? all signs point towards a Alabama vs Utah matchup at the end of the year (last match up between the two schools was back in 2009)

A season of change

over the past 20 years former Alabama Head coach nick saban has lead the tide out of the tunnel to thunderstruck this will be the first season without coach being there to lead them in to battle but the tide is uncharted territory but Alabama has alot to play for this is a team that is hungry, mad, and Focused  and ready to prove they belong at the top in the college football world

  

Michigan gets full notice of allegations

Michigan received a formal Notice of Allegations from the NCAA in the case centered around Connor Stalions' alleged scouting scheme, sources confirm to ESPN. The document is similar to the Notice Draft ESPN reported on in early August and is mostly unchanged, per sources.

Georgia tech upsets Florida st!

 In a very stunning upset in week 0 the georgia tech takes down acc opponent Florida st  21-24  and given this is the 9th college football game that has played in a international space and with a true irish underdog fashion georgia tech shocks us all.

How does this affect the college football playoff?

In the 4 team playoff a loss like this would be devastating to Florida st but the Seminoles still have a shot to get in to the inaugural 12 team college football playoff the committee will look not only how you win but how you loose (see article about 12 team cfp) so there is a real possibility we may see fsu back in the college football playoff later in the year but this shows that every game has meaning from the week 0 to the title games But lets get in to the weeds of this game

Stats

jamal haynes ran for 75 yards with 2 touch downs to help seal the win against Florida state  with quarterback haynes threw for 146 yards and ran 54 yards. The yellow jackets (1-0 and 1-0 in the acc)

were able to dominate the line of scrimmage to accumulate 190 rushing yards and 5.3 yards per carry

 

Georgia tech head coach  had this to say about the domination his team had "Really proud of the offensive line" coach kay said he also had this to say "shocking there, right? Really proud of these guys!.

Coming off a undefeated season and a remade roster, the Seminoles with 6:33 to left to go in the 4th quarter on a 15 play drive lead by DJ Uiagalelei.

Florida State (0-1 0-1) in acc play which was favored to win by 10 and a half points according to Sportsbook, never touched the ball again.Birr came in to the game with 5 seconds left in the game to kick the game winning field goal (58 yard field goal) that stayed just within the left upright.

Uiagaleli completed 19 of 27 passes for 193 yards in is Flordia State debut completing mostly short passes out to the outside until the late 4th down conversion late in the 4th q

Ryan fitzgerald made a 59 yard Field goal to help fsu late in the game (longest in fsu history)

Both teams had 7 drives apiece GTs  Final two drives were among the best and 11 play 89 yard touch down drive and then a 12 yard play 49 yard drive to set up birrs kick

Flordia State was able to build two touchdown drives, but just one in the second half while fsu had  2 rushing touchdowns, The Ground attack stalled as Gt held fsu to 98 yards on 31 carries

Brent key  had this to say "We are not trying to prove Anything to anyone" He also said this "all we are doing is playing as a team and as a famliy" 

Coming off a 7-6 season the yellow jackets sent a message to the rest of the acc and to college football as a whole

NCAA Football Oversight Group evaluating elimination of Spring transfer portal

 The Ncaa football oversight committee is considering removing the spring transfer portal a source told yahoo sports the proposal introduced this week will take effect the 2024-25 school year 

its also been reported that during the ncaas October meeting that any changes to the portal will take effect later this year and in to 2025 here are some of the changes being made in the proposal 

portal will go from 45 days to 30 and athletes will have 30 days to test free agency and according to yahoo sports  the SEC, BIG 10 BIG 12 and the ACC  support removing the spring window. More then 2800 FBS have entered there name in to the NCAAs transfer portal during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 27,07 that 25% of fbs players hit free agency in a span of a year.

if the proposal does not move forward the spring window is slated to open up on april 16th 2025 and shut down april 30th 2025.

The move comes as roster limits are set to hit college football when the impending house v ncaa settlement is certified. college football currently allows 85 scholarship players on a roster but with walk ons factored in, rosters can hover around 120  but with these settlement terms rosters will be at 105, all whom can be scholarship athletes.

The reason for the increase in scholarships stems from trying to provide legal protection from lawsuits.

how the 12 team playoff will work

 Well, in 24 hours' time, the first college football game of the year will be played in Dublin, Ireland with FS and Georgia Tech, so let's delve in to how the 12-team playoffs will go.

Participating teams will be the five conference champions ranked highest by the CFP selection committee, plus the next seven highest-ranked teams.

• The ranking of the teams will continue to be done by a selection committee.

 

• The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded one through four and will receive a first-round bye. The fifth conference champion will be seeded where it was ranked or at No. 12 if it is outside the top 12 rankings. Non-conference champions ranked in the top four will be seeded beginning at No. 5. Because of this, the seeding, 1 through 12, could look different from the final rankings.
  
  
• The eight teams seeded No. 5-12 will play in the first round with the higher seeds hosting the lower seeds either on campus or at other sites designated by the higher-seeded institution (No. 12 at No. 5, No. 11 at No. 6, No. 10 at No. 7 and No. 9 at No. 8.).

      

• The selection committee will assign the four highest-ranked conference champions to the Playoff Quarterfinals hosted by bowls. This will be done in consideration of historical bowl relationships, then in consideration of rankings. For example, if the Sugar Bowl hosts a Playoff Quarterfinal and the SEC champion is ranked No. 1 and the Big 12 champion is ranked No. 3, the SEC champion would be assigned to the Sugar Bowl and the Big 12 champion would be assigned elsewhere.

     

     

• With the four highest-ranked conference champions assigned to bowls, their four Playoff Quarterfinal opponents will be dictated by the bracket (i.e., No. 1 vs. No. 8/9 winner, No. 4 vs. No. 5/12 winner, No. 2 vs. 7/10 winner; No. 3 vs. 6/11 winner.) 

 

• The College Football Playoff bracket will follow the selection committee’s rankings, with no modifications made to avoid rematches between teams that may have played during the regular season or are from the same conference.

The bracket will remain in effect throughout the playoffs (i.e., no re-seeding). The highest seed will receive preferential placement for the Playoff Semifinal bowl assignment. All 11 games will be under the CFP umbrella with the administrative policies determined by the CFP.

alabama lands number 2 running back in the country

 Thhe alabama crimson tide has landed the #2 rb in the country today he is the second  top 30 running back the tide has landed over the last several months with kalen deboer at head coach aklin dear who is a 6 foot 5 running back committed to the tide over ole miss and fellow in state finalist missippi state handing Kalen DeBoer the latest high-profile addition to his inaugural recruiting class with the Crimson Tide.

Alabama now holds 15 top-300 commitments in 2025, led by Dear and fellow top-30 pledges offensive tackle Ty Haywood (No. 18 in the ESPN 300), wide receiver Caleb Cunningham (No. 19) and cornerback Dijon Lee Jr. (No. 25). The Crimson Tide sit at No. 2 in ESPN's latest team rankings for the 2025 cycle as Dear's pledge gives the Crimson Tide another piece of positive momentum in the program's pursuit of landing the nation's top signing class this fall 

heres what the young running back had to say today as he announced his commitment to the tide this afternoon

"I'm excited to be a part of an elite organization that is going to compete every year and strive to win a national championship," Dear told ESPN. "I'm going to be able to say I play for Alabama Crimson Tide, which is probably one of the greatest programs ever in the history of college football. Being able to follow in the footsteps of so many greats and accepting the challenge to be elite above all other things has always been my overall goal"

According to ESPN rankings, Dear is the No. 2 prospect in the state of Mississippi for his class. He emerged among the nation's top running backs in the backfield at Quitman High School during the fall of 2022, when he rushed for 800 yards and 21 touchdowns in his sophomore season. High-level offers across the Power 4 followed, and Dear's recruiting profile ballooned further in a junior year that saw him total 2,016 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns last fall.

Dear initially committed to Ole Miss on March 30 of this year. At the time, he represented the top prospect committed to Lane Kiffin's latest class and an important get for the Rebels after the program did not sign a running back in the 2024 class. But Dear's verbal pledge ultimately lasted not even three months, as he decommitted from Ole Miss on June 28, pulling his pledge in the midst of a flurry of late-June exits from the Rebels' 2025 class.

"I thought [Ole Miss] was what I really wanted, but at the same time I was really kind of just overwhelmed and tired of the recruitment process," Dear said. "During my search, I've always [sought] the feeling of a sense of home, and I didn't feel that entirely when I was committed to Ole Miss. Something just was missing."

Dear took spring official visits to Florida and Alabama before his decommitment, and he told ESPN the move to reopen his recruitment provided an opportunity to reevaluate his priorities at the next level. One month after decommitting from Ole Miss, Dear was back in Tuscaloosa for Alabama's Champions Cook-Out. Notably, Dear did not take official visits to Ole Miss or Mississippi State during the summer before committing to the Crimson Tide.

Alabama associate head coach Freddie Roach and running backs coach Robert Gillespie led Dear's recruitment for the Crimson Tide.

"It felt like home," Dear said of Alabama. "The coaching staff, the environment, the pursuit of greatness as an organization, the vibe of all the players, the number of running backs that they have produced and put in the NFL. Most of all, [Gillespie] has been absolutely great to me, and genuinely believes in me and my ability to contribute to his room."

As one of those 15 ESPN 300 commits pledged to the Crimson Tide's 2025 class, Dear joins fellow top-100 rusher Anthony Rogers (No. 98 in the ESPN 300) as the only running back committed to Alabama in this cycle. The Crimson Tide lost a commitment from four-star athlete/running back pledge Zymear Smith (No. 137) in July. Smith later committed to Maryland.

Michigan getting served notice of Allegation

 The college football world was lit on fire this past week when the michigan wolverines were served a notice of allegation involving the wolverines involvement with asst coach connor stallions coach stallions over the past 5 years (2019) has been accused of stealing defensive playcalls and ultimately winning the 2023 national championship

and from what the ncaa has gathered this is what we have learned :

*interim head coach shamar moore has deleted 52 texts related to connor stallions

*6 staff members knew of of this for 5 years

*from 2019- 2022 (256 games) were watched by stallions

*coach jim harbaugh knew and authorized the actions leading to the worst cheating scandal in college football history

what happens now?

now its in the ncaas hands at minimum Michigan is looking at a post season ban of at least 4 years at the maximum wins ranging from 2019 to 23 will be vacated along with their national championship

what has happened so far?

so far jim harbaugh has been issued a 4 year show-cause order for recruiting violations during 2020 for impermissible contact with recruits and players while access was restricted during the COVID-19 pandemic, effectively banning him from college athletics

in conclusion

the behavior by michigan is impermissible, wrong , sad and overall undermines the integrity of college football and needs to be punished in the fullest extent

 week 0 approaching its time to break down the first game of the year with Georgia tech do lets dive on in! 

with Florida state having the talent advantage its hard to find a way for for Georgia tech to win with fsu being lead by dj Uiagalelei (transfer from Clemson and Oregon state) djs stats he comes in witha completion rate of 57.8% and 21 touch downs   fsu comes in to week 0 with a leader who can run and sling it down the field at will along with a host of talented wide receivers  who can get free and rack up touchdowns for example malik benson for example last year alone has 162 yards receiving and 13 receptions and only 1 of the talented wide receiver corp

                            Georgia tech defense 

Georgia tech comes in to this game with little depth on the defensive side of the ball so they have to force miscues on fsus part hurry ups, and grabbing interceptions when they can but the question is can georgia tech standup to the depth and the speed that fsu has?  historically gt has played very soft coverages against fsu to the point they are ganshed deep in to there backfield in the end theres not alot that georgia tech can do except  force turnovers and try to play from behind
